São Martinho announces new Vice-President

São Paulo, October 22, 2007 - SÃO MARTINHO S.A. (Bovespa: SMTO3; Reuters SMTO3.SA and Bloomberg SMTO3 BZ, hereafter referred to as the Company), announces today the appointment of Mr. Fábio Venturelli to the position of Vice President. His appointment was confirmed by the Shareholders´ Meeting held this Monday, October 22.

With more than 18 years of experience in the Corporate Management, Global Business Management and Commercial Management - Marketing and Sales areas in the chemicals and plastic industry, Venturelli has international experience and a wide track record in the management of national and international companies.

In the São Martinho Group, the executive´s mission will be to expand the Company´s activities, especially the external market, seeking new business alternatives to complement the seasonality of sugarcane farming.
